Calling all StageSiders, welcome back to another review here at StageSideUK. This time, we will be reviewing Believe: The Cher Songbook, which took to the stage at the Darlington Hippodrome on the 31st of January.
Disclaimer: We were gifted two free tickets in exchange for an honest review.
From the moment the show started, Believe: The Cher Songbook proved to be a spectacular celebration of Cher’s iconic discography, aesthetics and acting career. The performance transported the audience into the heart of Cher’s extensive pop, rock and country repertoire, from her early days to her appearance in Mamma Mia.
The vocal strength and dynamics presented by Charlotte was nothing short of amazing, capturing Cher’s distinctive style without dropping into a terrible impression. With Cher, it would be so easy to take her accent and singing voice to the extreme, but in Bellieve, it is done so gently, meaning you can hear the songs and also recognise it is Cher.
The attention to detail in costumes added to this visual extravaganza, paying homage to Cher’s ever-evolving image throughout the years. Each outfit reflected Cher’s various personas, life moments and iconic presentations.

The musical talent showcased on stage was truly impressive, breathing life into the iconic sounds that define Cher’s musical journey. I found myself getting lost in the show immensely, I already knew I was a Cher fan, but this show allowed me to let me hair down and sing along to some of my favourite tunes!
Believe: The Cher Songbook delivers a spectacular evening of entertainment, paying tribute to a true icon. The show embodies the spirit of Cher, making it a must-see for any admirer of her work.
My evening at Believe: The Cher Songbook at Darlington Hippodrome was truly hard to Believe, All I Really Want To Do is get back to the theatre. I wish I Could Turn Back Time and relive it all over again. Believe: The Cher Songbook is great in reminding the audience of the timeless tunes that we all adore.
Now, onto the ratings!
This production offers excellent value for money. The tickets were relatively affordable considering the technical elements that are used, visual effects, costume changes and exceptional musical talent on the stage.
The show was really entertaining. I enjoyed every second, fully immersing myself in the evening. I was dancing and singing along to some amazing Cher tunes, so much so I got a cramp in my foot.
It is worth noting that Believe uses flashing lights, loud noises, and pyrotechnics. While used only at key moments, this does happen, and could be an issue for those sensitive to such elements.
Without hesitation, Believe: The Cher Songbook gets a full 5 out of 5 stars. It’s undeniably entertaining and truly spectacular.
