Calling all StageSiders, welcome back to another review here at StageSideUK. This time around we are talking about the visual feast that is Rhythm of the Dance, which played recently at the Darlington Hippodrome. Settle in and lets dive into this review.

Rhythm of the dance is a dance show, touring the world, that has been seen by over 7 million people in over 50 countries. The production blends music, dance and storytelling to bring audiences a glimpse of the emerald isles, from the comfort of their local theatre.
This year, Rhythm of the dance featured some new and rather impressive scenes, including one latin fusion scene which was truly amazing and some really great ensemble numbers too!
Along side the new numbers, we also had some new music, new instruments and some new stores. This touring production found a great balance between the music and dance numbers. The dancing had your heart racing, the music really set the tone and in some of the collaborative scenes, you really did have to pinch yourself!
The costuming in the show works well to bring the scenes together, be that in theme or character. Some of the scenes were really emotional, and took us back to the more traditional roots of Ireland and Irish Dancing, where as some of the newer scenes focused on some international influences. I really did enjoy the latin dance scene, as well as the more solo from the male lead alongisde the band.
Visually there was alot to look at, as well as the audibly stunning band and the impressive dancing. There was never a dull moment and I got lost in the show a good few times, simply being blown away by the talent on stage. The guitarist and vocalist did a great job at engaging the audience directly, whilst the dancers did their thing, as did the acordianist, who was living their best life on stage!
Rhythm of the dance never fails to impress. The show is a well oiled machine by now, and you can see that years of practice, hard work and planning goes into the shows! I know, stepping into a Rhythm of the dance show that I will leave entertained, amazed and energised and this year was no different!
The show is gearing up to tour Italy and Spain before returning for a UK christmas tour.
If you want to treat yourself this festive season, book a ticket! Although I would suggest doing it soonish, because these shows SELL OUT FAST!

Accesibility
The show contains some loud noises, stage lighting including fast flashing, changing colours, projection and more. The music is loud, and the cast sometimes shout and scream as part of the show. This can be loud, sudden and did make me jump a few times.
Value For Money
Tickets are around £35 – £40 per seat and I think this is about right for the show. You are seeing a huge cast of dancers, a really good band. The visuals are stunning, the costuming, the set and technical elements like lighting and sound, they are all just amazing. This really is the product of passion, and you can see that. I think for £40 you get a really good show and I left the theatre feeling entertained, and inspired!
