PRICKS - Jade and dennis on stage, behind them is a cabinet of little medical bottles with labels on. Jade is wearing a royal blue jumpsuit with pockets and her hair is tied back in a pony tail.

Calling all StageSider’s. Welcome back to another What’s On post here at StageSideUK. This time we are talking about PRICKS, playing at the Theatre Hullabaloo in Darlington.

Jade Byrne from Blackbird Creative Arts presents PRICKS.

I’ve had over 70,000 pricks…of the medical kind. This is my chance to set the record straight about people with Type 1 diabetes like me.

Despite what people say, I’m not bankrupting the NHS. And I can eat cake – a whole bloody cake – if I want to.

This urgent, funny new show blends warmly engaging storytelling with poetry and an original soundscape. It tells a surprisingly moving and uplifting story about families and learning to care for each other better.

Join me as I learn to cope with the ups and downs of dealing with a lot of pricks. Suitable for ages 12+. Parental discretion advised. “It’s entertaining; it has humour and pathos, some anguish, some anger and not a little sadness but, ultimately, positivity and happiness.” BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE

“…educational, heart-wrenching and heart-warming” **** THE LIST

“A revelatory piece of theatre” THE STAGE

“…a polished, warm-hearted performance” THE SCOTSMAN

StageSideUK will be seeing this show, in Darlington, and we are really looking forward to something a bit different.
