Calling all StageSiders, welcome back to another review here at StageSideUK. This time around, we are reviewing the festive, feel good show Step Into Christmas by Entertainers, which took to the Darlington Hippodrome stage on the 25th November. Settle in and lets get this review started!
Disclaimer: We were gifted a pair of free tickets in exchange for an honest review of the show.
As we rapidly approach the festive season, we are all looking for ways to get into the Christmas spirit. One of the ways that I get into the festive feels is with music, and if there’s one show guaranteed to flick that festive switch, even before December has dared to begin, it’s Step Into Christmas from Entertainers. The show is bursting with seasonal sparkle, feel-good music and brilliant banter, this show is everything a Christmas night out should be: joyful, engaging and fun!
From the first note, the cast radiate warmth and festive cheer. Their chemistry on stage is a joy to watch, and they bring a genuine sense of fun to every song and interaction. Nothing feels forced in this show, just a group of performers clearly loving what they do and inviting the audience along for the sleigh ride. Even in November, the Christmas spirit was impossible to resist.
The song choices are spot on, striking that perfect balance between classic festive favourites, ballads and crowd-pleasing surprises. It’s impossible not to smile, tap along, or sing along.
Musically, the show is super clean. The live band are outstanding throughout, delivering really great arrangements that give the songs real impact. A huge shout-out must go to the saxophone player, who absolutely smashed her solos. I was quite simply blown away by the talent!
Step Into Christmas understands exactly what it is and does it brilliantly. It doesn’t overcomplicate things or rely on gimmicks, it delivers festive fun with skill, heart and talent. By the final number, the audience were buzzing, spirits lifted and Christmas well and truly underway. No longer the dreaded C word, but something we are all looking forward to.
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and it’s a show I would happily go back to year after year. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s now firmly cemented itself as a Christmas tradition for us.
Accessibility
The show is sometimes quite loud, but never really overwhlemingly so. The show contains loud music such as guitar and saxaphone especially in solos, but these elements don’t last too long.
Value for money
Tickets for this show sit at around £35 per ticket, which is about right I think. The show is great, the band are amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at the theatre. I think £35 is right for the show, the talent is amazing and there are some great hidden surprises that are well worth watching!
I really enjoyed the show and would happily see it again on a future tour. The 2025 tour continues through to 23rd December 2025. Tickets and information available here: https://entertainers.co.uk/shows/step-into-christmas
