Christmas came early at the Darlington Hippodrome, as Step Into Christmas transformed the stage into a cosy lounge decorated with Christmas trees, gifts and brimming with festive cheer. This vibrant celebration of all things merry and bright had the audience singing, clapping, and smiling from ear to ear.
This show is a high-energy, feel-good extravaganza, from the first song until the final encore. Packed with classic Christmas tunes, the soundtrack covered everything from traditional favourites and instrumentals to modern hits, creating a playlist that felt like the perfect Christmas party on stage. Whether you’re a fan of Bing Crosby’s crooning or Mariah Carey’s whistle notes, there was something for everyone. The medley approach meant no dull moments – each song flowed well into the next, keeping the atmosphere alive and electric.
The staging sparkled, with alot of visual elements including light displays and special effects that added a layer of magic to the performance. Step Into Christmas even made it snow within the auditorium, and paired with clever projections transported the audience from bustling Christmas markets to tranquil snowy landscapes. It wasn’t just about the scenery; the performers also had several costume changes that were equally impressive and spectacular.
The heart of the show lay in its incredible performers. The vocalists were top-notch, bringing a fresh energy to every song and showing off impressive vocal versatility.
