StageSideUK – Goals for 2025!

Calling all StageSiders, it’s a new year and you know what that means! It’s time to set our goals for 2025, so if you want to find out more about what StageSideUK is aiming for in 2025, then keep on reading.

As we step into 2025, I am more determined than ever to shout about the vibrant, varied and diverse world of performance. Over the years, I have built a platform that celebrates creativity, accessibility, and community, and this year I am raising the curtain on some ambitious goals.

1. A Show a Week

One of my most exciting goals is to visit the theatre, on average, at least once per week. In 2024, I visited around 40 times, which wasn’t bad, but my aim for 2025 is to visit at least 52 times in the year. With so many performances touring the UK this should be achievable. I want to ensure I am showcasing a diverse range of productions—from the glitz and glamour of West End musicals to the raw energy and impact of grassroots performances. With this, I also want to visit more venues, and attend unconventional performance spaces and community theatre productions. Within the reviews, I will also be bringing back the discussions on accessibility, cost and value for money, and the entertainment value of the show.

2. Shining a Spotlight on Local Theatre

While big-name productions often dominate the headlines, and get more attention on social media, there’s a wealth of talent to be discovered in local and regional theatre. In 2025, I will be shining a spotlight on smaller companies, emerging artists and independent productions that bring so much to our communities. I will be featuring community am-dram groups, fringe shows, independent artists and grassroots venues to highlight the quality content that is out there on our doorsteps.

3. Broadening Our Horizons

Performance comes in many forms, and I am eager to embrace more of them. This year, I plan to delve deeper into concerts, comedy shows, and other non-theatrical performances. From stand-up comedians to live music events, these experiences offer a different perspective on the art of storytelling and entertainment and I want to discuss that. I know so many people out there are keen to engage with music, comedy, drag and so many other genres, so I can not wait to highlight these events and share my thoughts on them and get a conversation started.

4. StageSide Stories: 12 Interviews with Theatre Creatives

The StageSide Stories series has always been about giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the world of performance. In 2025, I am setting a target: to interview at least 12 theatre creatives. From directors and playwrights to actors and stage designers, these interviews will provide a glimpse into the minds of those shaping the future of theatre. Hopefully, these articles will share an insight into what goes into theatre making, and share some of those logistical challenges they face, that the average Joe may not be aware of.

5. Create more opportunities for discussion

A new element we are looking to bring to StageSideUK, is the opportunity for group discussions. In 2025, I am planning on implementing some new ways to bring the community together. This could be live streams on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, theatre quiz nights, or it could be group theatre trips to the local theatre. I have already started to get the cogs turning on how StageSideUK can be a more social space so keep those eyes peeled!

At StageSideUK, the mission is to create a space where everyone feels connected to and involved in the world of performance. These goals for 2025 have been set to ensure that we’re not just talking at you, or screaming into the void, but including you in the conversation and creating a space where we can all discuss performance together. By expanding the breadth of our coverage and diving deeper into the stories that matter, we’re staying true to our vision of celebrating the performing arts in all their forms.

Here’s to another year of unforgettable performances and performance based discussions. Let’s make 2025 our most exciting year yet!
