Calling all StageSiders, welcome back to another review here at StageSideUK. This time, we are talking about a great night of comedy, playing at The Majestic Theatre in Darlington. Settle in and let’s talk about the most brutal comedy show in Darlington.

The Majestic Theatre in Darlington is a household name. Whether you remember the old snooker hall, took your kids to the soft play or enjoyed a show there, many residents of Darlington will have been to The Majestic at some point.
On Friday night, I was invited down to the Gongzilla comedy night hosted by Jesticals Comedy Club.
The night started with an explaination of the rules. Rule number 1, the only rule is to have a good time. Laugh, heckle and enjoy yourselves.
We were treated to 5 minute comedy routines from 14 up and coming comedians, 1 professional comedian and the MC for the evening. As each comedian took to the stage, their time begun. They had 1 minute of grace to deliver a range of jokes that would keep them from being given the gong! If, for whatever reason, the audience wasn’t feeling the act, then they could vote off the comedians via placards. The placards were handed to three audience members and all had to hold up their cards for the act to be buzzed off. Only three of the acts were buzzed off, which was a great sign, and the acts that were buzzed off were still amazing comedians!
The mix of styles, jokes and witty come-backs were amazing. Some of the comedians really took to the stage and owned it, as if it was nothing. The highlight for me was seeing comedians take to the stage, for the very first time! Not only at a comedy night in Darlington, but facing a crowd as brutal as it was, they did an amazing job!
I loved the trip to the Majestic and had a great time watching some truly amazing comedians.
Accessibility
This production includes flashing lights, recorded sound and alot of audience interaction. However, it wasn’t ever too much for me and I was quite comfortable throughout.
Value for money
We were sent to the show for free in exchange for the review. For an early bird ticket, you can secure a seat for £5, and for regular tickets they are £10. This is a steal! You get a range of comedians, a good 2 hours of comedy and some great interaction for a tenner.
I loved my time at Gongzilla, and would love to go back. I thinkGongzilla could become part of my routine theatre visits.
