Calling all StageSiders, welcome back to another review here at StageSideUK. This time around, we’re talking all things riffs, rock and roll. The Rock Anthems Show took to the Darlington Hippodrome stage and took us all to the golden era of rock n roll. Read on to find out more about this iconic tribute!

Disclaimer: we were gifted a pair of tickets in exchange for an honest review of the show.

The Rock Anthems Show is a high-energy celebration of some of the greatest rock hits of all time. From the opening number, this show wastes absolutely no time in taking the audience to the most iconic rock concerts. Packed start to finish with iconic anthems from Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Tina Turner and more, The Rock Anthems Show is loud, proud and ready to get the audience on its feet singing along and rocking out. If you’re looking for subtlety, and passive viewing, this isn’t it. If you want a proper rock night out, you’re very much in the right place.

The song choices are chefs kiss here. The show is full of recognisable, stadium-filling tracks that instantly connect with the audience, and the show leans into that shared sense of nostalgia and community brilliantly. You could feel the excitement throughout the crowd as each familiar intro kicked in, with plenty of singalong moments that turned the theatre into something closer to a rock arena.

Vocally, the performers bring serious commitment and confidence to the stage. Dude Looks Like A Lady was a real highlight for this. The singer strutted, danced and engaged with the audience with so much confidence we were all having a great time. Tackling artists as iconic as Tina Turner and Aerosmith is no small feat, but the cast rise to the challenge, delivering big vocals that match the scale of the music. There’s a real sense of respect for the original artists, while they still put their own stamp on the numbers.

What really works about The Rock Anthems Show is that it simply delivers hit after hit, with energy, charisma and a clear love for rock music. By the final numbers, the atmosphere was incredible, with the audience fully on board and soaking up every last musical moment.

This is the kind of show that reminds you just how timeless these songs are. Big choruses, bold performances and a buzzing crowd combine to create a thoroughly enjoyable night at the theatre. The Rock Anthems Show is really the go to show for any Rock fan!

Accessibility

The show features very loud, amplified music throughout, in keeping with the rock concert style. Volume levels are high during most numbers, so this is worth bearing in mind for those sensitive to noise. For me, my ears were ringing for a little after the show. The show also features flashing lights, lights shining into the audience and some audience interaction.

Value for Money

As a touring tribute-style concert packed with instantly recognisable hits, The Rock Anthems Show offers good value for money. The band contains 8 members, including vocals. You’re getting a full evening of high-energy entertainment, strong vocals and a soundtrack that delivers exactly what it promises. Tickets for this show were around £30 and I think that is quite fair.
