Calling all StageSider’s, welcome back to another Favourite Friday here at StageSideUK! It has been a while since we have done one of these, so we thought we would go back to basics and find out what your favourite modern musical is.
Modern musicals can be anything that is fairly new. We are talking Wicked, Kinky Boots, Hamilton and Webber’s Cinderella. Anything in between is a modern musical.
I would probably say that my favourite modern musical would have to be Beautiful The Carole King Musical. I’ll add that I am talking about the old version of the show and not the new version. I have yet to see the adapted version but the old version of this musical was just beautiful. It brought me so much comfort. I love a musical that I can watch and feel equally excited and relaxed. A musical that can do that is a winner in my opinion.
The music in it was amazing, the characters were amazing and some of those scene transitions almost had me in tears. This musical is just one of those that you have to see to understand the power it has. It really is amazing. I am looking forward to seeing the newly developed version of this show, but I hope it is as good, if not better than the original.
