Calling all StageSiders, welcome back to another review here at StageSideUK. This time around we are talking about a visit to a Frankie Valli tribute, at our local Darlington Hippodrome. We got to see Big Girls Don’t Cry and, Oh What A Night it was!
We need to start off by saying, how well organised and slick this show was. The organisation that went into this show, I can only begin to imagine. Each number was well placed, to almost create a narrative. We were taken through some of the most well known, and least known, songs accompanied by some fascinating facts and stories.
One of the standout features of this production was undoubtedly the vocals from the cast. From the moment the curtains lifted, we were treated to a whole range of impressive voices performing some of the most well knwon songs by Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Each member of the cast showcased their vocal prowess, hitting those high notes with lots of power, and then harmonizing together in other moments. By the end of the show, the audience were up on their feet, dancing and singing along to each and every tune that was played.
The energy on stage was infectious. And their commitment to their roles was amazing. When they were dancing, they gave it their all. When they were delivering their dialogues, they commited to it. The chemistry among the cast members was strong, adding depth to the performance.
A strong structure is often the backbone of a successful show, and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” had just that. The pacing and structure of the songs created a narrative that flowed quite well. Taking the audience on a journey through the ups and downs of The Four Seasons’ career. The transitions between scenes were done well, keeping the audience engaged and immersed.
Now onto the rating!
I had a fantastic night at Big Girls Don’t Cry, and I am so glad I went to see it! The vocals were a treat and the whole experience was very well put together. I have to give the show four out of five stars for being a fabulous evening of entertainment.
