Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! Welcome back to another wondering Wednesday. This wednesday I was wondering, have you ever gone to the theatre alone?
When I was in college and even sometimes at University I would go to the theatre alone, as a little bit of ‘me’ time. Not because I didn’t like people, but because I loved being in a theatre. The example I use to describe the feeling is, I feel like a robotics engineer at a robot convention. Knowing what is going on behind the scenes, how things work. It’s like Dorothy seeing what is behind the curtain. But it doesn’t put me off, it makes me want to watch more.
It didn’t really matter what I saw, as long as I liked it, I just enjoyed going out and seeing some entertainment. It is like binging box sets, I just used to go out and do that on my own, in a theatre.
The shock and confusion of me walking into a theatre alone was so confusing. I would get asked if I was alone or if someone was joining me. Nine times out of ten I would say I’m alone. I would also drop in there that I was getting picked up (for safety reasons). I was always shocked that it was that strange that someone needed to ask me.
So have you ever been to the theatre alone? Or do you always go with another person?
