Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. This ‘Wondering Wednesday’ I want to know more about you and your local theatre. So this week I want to know, what is your local theatre?
Hull Truck Theatre
My, closest, local theatre is Hull Truck Theatre. When I moved to Hull, to start my University journey, I needed to find a theatre that would satisfy my hunger for theatre. Hull Truck Theatre has two performance spaces. The Heron, which is the main auditorium and the studio, a smaller performance space. I love this theatre as it is home to some very nice memories, as well as hosting some brilliant shows! This theatre also had a deal for drama students that meant we were able to book cheaper visits, which of course was an added bonus. I have seen a mix of shows here from cabaret acts, like Christina Bianco, to plays, like The Hypocrite. This theatre has allowed me to see a complete mix of performances and I have spent many a night sat in the lobby, after the show, talking about my favourite parts of whatever I have just experienced.
Hull New Theatre
My other local theatre is Hull New Theatre, which is a larger theatre that hosts touring shows from the west end and mainstream theatre companies, as well as local theatre companies. This theatre was one of the first ones I had visited when I moved to Hull. The first show I saw here was Beautiful The Musical, a few years ago. I had only seen the theatre after the recent renovations so I do not know what the theatre was like before the renovations. Perhaps if you know what the theatre was like you could let me know how it compares.
So please do answer this wondering wednesday in the comments, and tell me what your local theatre is. Let’s get a conversation going! Please remember to be kind to eachother and respect eachother’s opinions. Harmful language and bullying will not be tolerated and will be removed from the comments.
